Alabama District Church Planting Procedures

You have felt God’s call to plant a church in the Alabama District. It is important that you follow the established procedures to insure a successful relationship built with the section in which the church plant is targeted and with the Church Planting and Development Board.

Step #1

a. Contact the World Missions Director in writing regarding your desire to plant a church stating the community, city, and section in which you desire to plant. Also, include your proposed process for accomplishing this plant.

b. Arrange a meeting with the Sectional Presbyter in the section you wish to plant and seek his guidance after the District Missions Director has contacted you regarding your desire to plant.

c. Request that the Sectional Presbyter contact the World Missions Office after you have meet with him to arrange a meeting with the World Missions Director and Sectional CP&D Committee (this is required before requesting meeting with CP&D Board) to determine if your church plant site is to be approved by the section in which you wish to plant.

Step #2

a. You must complete Church Planter’s assessment.

b. Research potential meeting locations.

c. Determine the best means for reaching the selected community.

d. Acquire demographic study for proposed church plant area (you can      contact District Missions Director for assistance).

e. Prepare a detailed proposal for presentation one month prior to the      Church Planting and Development Board meeting.

Step #3

a. Upon approval of the CP&D Board, the new missions’ effort will be recognized as a District Missions’ Church.

b. Upon submittal of the Constitution and By Laws of the new church and after filing the incorporation papers with the local probate judges office the new church will be able to apply for recognition as an Assemblies of God Church through the Distinct Council office and upon approval of the General Council will become a District Council Affiliated Church with all rights and responsibilities inherent thereto.

c. Once you have completed the above step you may request assistance from Speed The Light and BGMC.

Step #4

If you are requesting Church Planting and Development to partner with you financially in this plant, please continue the following steps:

a. If recommended for approval you have the opportunity to make a request for CP&D to partner with you to some degree in this endeavor (this may or may not receive approval).

b. Upon contact that your request has been approved to begin a new church with CP&D assistance you may be required to attend a Church Planter’s Training event.

c. You will need to develop your passionate core of individuals to partner with you in this plant.

d. Monthly reports will be required by the CP&D.

e. Any approval is subject to review at each quarterly CP&D Board meeting.
